Before proceeding with the QL Server Upgrade, it is important to disable the software update through the Player Technical Profile. This process is to prevent all your players from upgrading to the latest version on your server at once, it is best practice to update the players in increments.
Our recommendation is to follow this procedure with larger deployments of over 20 players and more and also having a means to remotely access your media players via Team Viewer or any other software you may use in the event an issue my occur on the players end
1.Set the software updates through your Player Technical profile(s) to Disabled. If you have more than one profile, we suggest changing it on all profiles. Select the Gear icon (bottom left corner) > Player Management > Technical Profile > uncheck Download Upgrader and Upgrade Player checkboxes and click SAVE.
2. Once all Technical Profiles have the software update set to disabled, it is important that you send an update to all players, so the players take the new settings into effect.
3. Create a new Technical Profile named Update, and set the Software update for both check boxes to enabled. If you wish to have the update sent immediately set the local time for the player in the download upgrader and set the upgrade player to ASAP.
4. Assign the Update profile to a few of your Test Players. To change the Technical Profile a player is assigned to open Player Properties > Player Technical Profile (page 2).
5. Send an update to the test players.
Your test players will upgrade overnight or when specified in the player technical profile. When you are satisfied your test players are fully functional with the new player update. You may change the technical profiles back to software update enabled or update your players to the new version in increments, by changing your player's technical profile to the Update profile.
