Moving Users Between Domains

Written by Giuseppe

Requirements before you begin

  • Access to Domain and User Management

  • At least one additional Domain configured, to move a user into

In this article, we will outline how to move a user from one Domain to another — allowing you to reassign their experience without needing to delete and recreate their account.

What are Domains?

Domains let you customise a user's experience within Qompose, controlling exactly what they can see and access — including Groups, Players, content, and Playlists.

This can be configured differently from user to user, or applied across an entire group of users at once.

Accessing Domain and User Management

  • Click Settings in the top right corner

  • Select Domain and User Management from the dropdown

  • Select Domains and users

Moving a user to a different Domain

  • Expand the Domains panel on the left to view your full list of Domains

  • Locate the Domain your user currently belongs to, and confirm they're listed under User on the right

  • Right-click the user and select Cut

  • Right-click the Domain you'd like to move them to, and select Paste

  • A confirmation dialog will appear, showing the user's name and destination Domain — click OK to confirm

Your user will now appear immediately under their new Domain.

Customising the user's new experience

Once moved, you can go ahead and configure exactly what this user should see and access within their new Domain — Groups, Players, content, Playlists, and more — based on that Domain's settings.

  • From the View column, select which Groups and Players you'd like this domain to be able to have access to

  • Click Save to confirm your Domain-level changes

  • Click Save settings to close the Domain and User Management panel

Summary

Once a user has been moved to a new Domain, their next login will reflect the experience configured for that Domain — giving you a fast way to reassign users as roles, regions, or organisational structures change, without ever needing to delete and recreate their account.
