Setting a Player Licence Recovery Time

Written by Giuseppe

Requirements before you begin

  • Full administrator access (Server Properties settings are restricted to full administrator accounts)

In this article, we will outline how to configure the time interval after which an unresponsive Player's licence is automatically reset.

Understanding licence status

A Player's licence status reflects whether your server is receiving a heartbeat signal from that Player:

  • Green — the Player is online and communicating normally

  • Yellow — an alert has been raised on the Player; this status remains until manually cleared

  • Red — the server is not receiving a heartbeat from the Player (the Player is offline or powered down)

Please Note

A red status resolves itself automatically the moment the Player reconnects and resumes sending a heartbeat — no manual action or reset is needed in this case.

Setting a Player licence recovery time

If a Player remains offline indefinitely and never reconnects, you can define how long QL should wait before automatically resetting that Player's licence:

  • Click the Settings icon in the top navigation bar

  • Head to System settings

  • Click on Server, then Properties

  • Under Server Properties, locate the Player licence recovery time field

  • Enter your desired number of Days

  • Click Save settings

Please Note

Once this time interval is reached, the affected licence will reset to grey (deactivating and unpairing from the Player) and will be moved back to its original position in your group hierarchy — the same location it was originally added to your server from.

Summary

With a Player licence recovery time now configurable directly from your Server Properties, you can ensure licences tied to long-term offline Players are automatically freed up and returned to their original place in your hierarchy, rather than remaining indefinitely reset to a Player that may never reconnect.
