Understanding Campaign Statuses in the Advertising Module

Written by Giuseppe

Every campaign in the Advertising Module moves through a defined set of statuses as it progresses from creation to completion. In this article, we will outline what each status means, and what actions are available to you at each stage.

As you navigate through the Dashboard, Campaigns, Reports and History pages of the Advertising Module, you'll always be able to see the Status column, which provides you an overview of what stage the assosciated campaign is at within its lifecycle.

Campaign Status Overview

Status

Description

Draft

A campaign starts as a Draft the moment you begin building it. While in Draft, a campaign has no effect on your network's availability — it isn't counted against any Player's advertising capacity.

  • A Draft campaign can be deleted entirely from the system at any time

Booked

Saving a Draft moves the campaign to Booked. From this point, the campaign is counted in your network's availability and capacity calculations.

Please Note: Once booked, the specific Players targeted by the campaign are locked in as a snapshot. Even if new Players later match the same targeting criteria, they will not be added automatically.

  • A Booked campaign can be cancelled, moving it to the Cancelled status

  • A Booked campaign automatically becomes Active once its scheduled start date arrives

Active

An Active campaign is currently running and delivering against its goal.

  • To edit an Active campaign, it must first be paused

  • An Active campaign can also be cancelled directly, moving it to the Cancelled status

Top Tip: Editing a campaign requires re-running the feasibility check against its new settings, which is why pausing is required first — this ensures the campaign's revised settings are checked before it resumes delivery.

Completed

Once a campaign reaches its end date, it moves to Completed and remains permanently in the system as a record of what ran.

Cancelled

A campaign moves to Cancelled if it's cancelled from either the Booked or Active status. Cancelled campaigns are retained in the system for auditing and tracking purposes.

  • A Cancelled campaign can be deleted permanently

A campaign moves through Draft, Booked, Active, and Completed as it progresses, with the ability to Cancel from Booked or Active at any point along the way. Only Draft, Booked, or Paused campaigns can be edited directly — an Active campaign must be paused first. Cancelled and Completed campaigns are both retained permanently for auditing, with Cancelled campaigns additionally available for permanent deletion if no longer needed.
