In Qompose, you can nest a playlist of content within another playlist. This allows you to have multiple content sequences work together, with unique customisation to suit your workflow. In this article, we'll cover all things Nested Playlists and show you how to get the most out of them.
Nesting a Playlist within another (using Buckets)
From the Content Library, right-click on a playlist of your choice (the playlist you wish to nest another playlist within)
Click Edit to enter the Playlist Properties
In the General tab, click the + Add Bucket button beneath the Nested Playlist subsection
From here you'll need to create a Bucket. A bucket is essentially a placeholder in your playlist, this is where you'll house/nest another playlist of content.
Creating a New Bucket
After clicking the + Add Bucket button for the first time, a new bucket will be created.
In the name field, give your Bucket a name of your choosing (think of this as the name of a playlist)
Do not select Play as an existing Playlist
Choose a Playback order:
Sequential means the entire bucket of content will play in the sequence in which you add the assets to the Nested Playlist/Bucket (we'll cover this in a later step)
Random means the entire bucket of content will play in a random sequence
Define a Nb. of media to be played
This is where you define how many assets will play from your Nested Playlist at one time in the sequence. So for example, if you set this to 2 but have 4 assets in the bucket, this will mean that the standard content from your playlist will play, then 2 assets from the Nested Playlist, then when the sequence continues through and returns to the Nested Playlist plays once again, the next 2 assets will play.
If you want ALL assets in your Nested Playlist to play in a single sequence, ensure you set this number to the total number of assets you plan on inserting into your Bucket/Nested Playlist.
Should you wish to add more Buckets to your Playlist, simply click the + Add Bucket button again.
Once you're finished with your selection press Save Settings
With the steps above complete, you'll see a preview of your Playlist in the Playlist Manager, with the empty Bucket shown in the sequence. The next step is to add some content to your bucket.
As you can see from the Screenshot above, our Daily Playlist now has its standard content plus a Bucket, ready for us to add new content to.
Adding Content to your Bucket/Nested Playlist
Content can be added to a newly created Bucket like any other playlist; simply drag and drop the content from your Content Library into the Bucket.
Once content has been added to the Bucket, click on the Bucket to expand it and see all of the assets you have added:
Creating a Bucket from an Existing Playlist
To nest an existing playlist from your Playlist Manager into a Bucket:
From the Content Library, right-click on a playlist of your choice (the playlist you wish to nest another playlist within)
Click Edit to enter the Playlist Properties
In the General tab, click the + Add Bucket button beneath the Nested Playlist subsection
Select the Play as an existing playlist option
Choose your Playlist from the drop-down menu
Choose a Playback order:

Random means the entire bucket of content will play in a random sequence

Once your Bucket has been added, click on the Bucket to expand it and you'll see a list of all of your assets from the existing playlist you chose:
Please Note
You cannot drag assets from the Content Library onto a Bucket that has been made from an existing playlist. In order to do so, please add the content to the origin playlist instead of the bucket within the master playlist.
With Buckets, you can introduce genuine variety into your Playlists without maintaining multiple near-duplicate versions by hand — whether that's curating a Free bucket's own content, or referencing an existing Playlist to keep everything in sync automatically.
