Qompose has introduced some enhancements to the Player Properties area within the user interface. In this article, we'll cover what's new and how you can make the most of the new functionalities.
Accessing your media player's Player Properties
To access the Player Properties area:
Locate your Player from the Groups panel
Right-click your Player and select Edit
Within the Player Properties, you now have 6 tabs that offer a range of functionalities for your media players, from interactive location maps, Site Pictures, Live Playback Views and more! Read on to learn more.
Setting your Player's location using the map
Previously, a Player's location could only be entered as plain text, with no way to plot it geographically. You can now use an interactive map to set your Player's exact coordinates, and several related fields will automatically populate.
Locate your Player from the Groups panel
Right-click your Player and select Edit
Within the General tab, select Open map
Enter the address where your Player is located, and select it from the drop-down menu
A pin will drop onto the map — click and drag this pin to fine-tune your exact location if needed
Once you're happy with your selection, click Save settings
Top Tip
As per the screenshot above, plotting your media player's location on the map also auto-populates the Time Zone for that media player too. You can manually change this at any time by selecting the Time Zone drop-down, should you wish to have your media player use a different time zone.
Please Note
These coordinates are also used to plot your Player on the Location map within Monitoring. See our article on Getting to know the new Monitoring tab for more detail.
Uploading a Site Picture
You can now upload a photo of your Player's physical site directly within its Properties.
Within the General tab, scroll to Site picture
Click Upload and select your image
Click Save settings to confirm
Please Note
Site Picture images are uploaded independently of your Content Library, similar to Top Layer images in the Template Designer. This image isn't reusable elsewhere unless uploaded again separately.
Viewing your Player's Content Checker
The Content Checker shows the maximum supported content specifications for your Player, determined by Navori's internal testing on that specific device model. Use this as a reference guideline to ensure any content you deliver to this Player falls within its supported capabilities.
Within the Player's Properties, select the Diagnostic tab
Under System informations, select the Content checker sub-tab
The values shown depend on your Player's specific model, and are read-only — this table can't be edited, since it reflects what that device is actually capable of, not a setting to configure. Fields include:
Device identification — MediaPlayerBrand, MediaPlayerModel, MediaPlayerOS, MediaPlayerOSVersion, Portrait (whether portrait orientation is supported)
Video codec capabilities — MaxVideoMbs, H264MaxResolution, H264MaxPixels, H264MaxFps, H2644K, H265Support, H265MaxResolution, H265MaxPixels, H265MaxFps
Template and object limits — TplSupported, TplMaxVideo, TplMaxObject, TplInTplVideo, TplInTplNoVideo (support for nested templates, with or without video)
Streaming and input support — HtmlDwpVideo, HdmiInput, StrUdp, StrRtsp, Image
Supported content and connector types — PowerPoint, Acrobat, PowerBI, WebSite, RssXml, ServerFeed, Office365Calendar, Facebook, X, ScreenFeed
Please Note
Content Checker values will vary between Player models — a device with lower hardware specifications may show reduced values (e.g. a lower H265MaxFps, or false against a given content type) compared to a higher-end model.
Viewing a Live View of your Player
Previously, requesting diagnostics from a Player would return a single frame-shot of its current content. You can now toggle Live View to receive a continuous live stream instead of a single static frame.
Within the Diagnostic tab, switch on the Live View toggle
Click Diagnostic
Instead of a single screenshot, you'll now receive a live playback view of exactly what's currently playing on that Player.
Overriding your Player's Playback Window Remotely
Previously, adjusting a Player's engine/playback window position required physical access to the device itself, using the Navori Conductor application installed locally.
You can now configure this remotely, directly from a Player's Properties in the CMS, without needing to be physically present at the Player.
Within the Player's Properties, select the Diagnostic tab
Under System informations, select the Display sub-tab
Manually input your desired X and Y coordinates to override the Player's playback window position
When you're finished, press Save
Configuring License auto-reset
Within the Player's Properties, select the Licence tab
Configure your desired auto-reset interval
