Publishing Content to your Players

Written by Giuseppe

Once playlists of content have been dragged onto the scheduling grid, you can press the "Publish" button at any time (with your players selected) to trigger the action of having your players download new content (if available). Think of the "Publish" button as a "Update" button.

Please Note

This article assumes you have already added content to your content library and created at least one playlist containing content. If you have not yet done this, please see the following articles:

With this in mind, if you have already scheduled a playlist to a player (see Scheduling a Playlist), and then add new content to that same playlist and then hit the "Publish" button with your desired player selected, the player will download whatever new content has since been added to that playlist. We call this a "Silent Publish", and in the next section, we'll show you how to do this.

Performing a "Silent Publish"

  1. Select the Players you'd like to publish your content to (you can also do this in bulk by using the Search & Filter function or by selecting an entire group or sub-group)

    1. Note: When selecting your players, selecting a group or subgroup automatically selects all players residing within that group. To manually select individual players, ensure you select players, not the groups or subgroups that house them. To uncheck a player or group, simply select the checkbox once again.

  2. Ensure that you have dragged and dropped a playlist onto the scheduling grid (see Creating Playlists and Scheduling a Playlist if you have yet to do so)

  3. With your players selected and the scheduling grid filled with content, press the Publish button located in the top right-hand side of the user interface

As this is a "Silent Publish" there is no larger pop-up or indicator that will appear to let you know that new content has been recieved and downloaded by your players.

Once you have clicked "Publish", take a look at the players you had selected in the players panel. If you do so quickly enough, you will see a loading bar showing the download progress for those players. Alternatively, if you press "Publish" from the Monitoring tab with your players selected, you'll be able to see the download progress under the Status column.

And that's it! Assuming your player is actively connected to the internet and communicating with the server, it will download the new content, ready to be displayed on-screen.
